De Matteo, 52, told the Daily Mail this week she was down to her last $10 and was close to losing her home before she made the decision to join the adults-only subscription site last year.

“It saved us,” she admitted. “OnlyFans saved my life, 100%. I can’t believe I’m saying that, but it really did save us.”

The actress, who lost work over her refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccine, said she didn’t want to join the site but added that she was out of options after the bank threatened to take her home.

“They put me into foreclosure and my house had flooded, so I was trying to sell the house quickly,” she told the outlet. “I wanted to try and sell it before they took it.”

Making matters worse, was caring for her elderly relatives.

“At the same time, I lost my mom, and my other mom, who has dementia, had run out of money for her caregiver. I didn’t know which way was up,” she said.

De Matteo decided to join OnlyFans as a way to help re-establish her financial footing.

“I kept putting more pictures up,” she recalled. “I was like, ‘Holy s***.’ In five minutes, I was able to pay back Compass Real Estate, who kept the sale of my house.”

She continued, “I did it, but I didn’t want to do it. I got a lot of heat for doing it and it went f***ing viral and people went nuts.”

Last fall, de Matteo said she joined OnlyFans after her acting jobs dried up following her stance against taking the COVID-19 vaccine.

In an interview with Fox News, de Matteo said she was forced to “switch careers and figure new things out because my own industry thinks I’m a savage.”

“I guess you could say I was a bad girl because I did not follow the rules a couple of years ago. So, I don’t want to be at the mercy of mandates or strike or anything like that ever again,” the Emmy winner says.

The actress went on to add that her agent dumped her and her family “almost lost our home over” her refusal to get vaccinated.

De Matteo joined the R-rated site in August making her announcement with a nude photo on her Instagram posing in a pair of animal-print boots, smoking a cigarette while sitting on a bed. “OnlyFans is live now,” she wrote in a follow-up post that showed her in a black two-piece swimsuit.

For $15 per month, subscribers get access to uncensored shots of the 52-year-old.

Other celebrities who have embraced the platform include Iggy Azalea, Denise Richards, Carmen Electra, Cardi B, Bella Thorne, Tyga, and Chris Brown.

De Matteo told Fox that her decision to join the service was motivated by her need to provide for the two children she shares with her ex Shooter Jennings.

“I know some people have said some nasty things about me having joined OnlyFans. But, you know, the way we see it in this house is mommy’s a warrior, not accepting defeat,” de Matteo explains.

“I figured, ‘OK, so everybody’s in their underwear and being sexy on Instagram and I don’t do that, but I can do that and get paid for it.’ … I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner,” she said.

De Matteo played Adriana La Cerva on the first five seasons of The Sopranos. But after Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) discovered she was working as an informant for the FBI, he ordered her killed. In one of the show’s most heartbreaking episodes, Silvio Dante (Steven Van Zandt) chased her down in a leaf-filled forest, begging for mercy.

After her run on the show ended, de Matteo went on to appear on Sons of Anarchy, Mayans M.C., Desperate Housewives and Shades of Blue.

While de Matteo joined the platform because she felt like her back was against the wall, she says the site has given her a newfound sense of confidence.

“It feels good to see those photos,” she told the Mail online. “They might be touched up here and there, but … for the most part I look good, and the best part about it is I get to be heavier. I don’t look good in the pictures if I’m skinny.”

As for her pre-photoshoot meals, de Matteo says she likes to load up on carbs.

“I’m just being an Italian lady in the world, eating spaghetti and steak,” she said. “You want your boobs to be big and your butt to be big. Otherwise, the photos are a snooze fest.”
