Flutterwave Payment Gateway for Botble CMS

Accept payments securely on your Botble CMS store using Flutterwave. This plugin integrates Flutterwave's payment infrastructure with Botble's checkout, allowing customers to pay using cards, bank transfers, mobile money, USSD, and other payment methods supported by Flutterwave for the customer's country.

The plugin handles payment initialization, customer redirection, transaction verification, order processing, payment status updates, refunds, and transaction logging.

Requirements

• Botble CMS with the Payment and Ecommerce plugins enabled

• PHP 8.1 or higher

• A registered Flutterwave merchant account

• Flutterwave API credentials

• HTTPS recommended for production

• A publicly accessible webhook/callback URL for production

Installation

1. Copy this directory to:

   platform/plugins/flutterwave/

2. Run the following command from the Botble CMS root:

   composer dump-autoload

3. Activate Flutterwave Payment Gateway from:

   Admin Panel Plugins

4. Open:

   Admin Panel Payments

5. Enable Flutterwave as a payment method.

Configuration

Configure the following settings in:

Admin Panel Payments Flutterwave

• Public Key: Your Flutterwave public API key.

• Secret Key: Your Flutterwave secret API key.

• Encryption Key: Your Flutterwave encryption key, where required.

• Mode: Test or Live.

• Webhook Secret Hash: Secret hash configured in your Flutterwave dashboard for webhook validation.

• Payment Description: Optional description displayed as part of the payment transaction.

Use your Flutterwave test credentials while developing and testing the integration. Switch to live credentials and Live mode when the store is ready to accept real payments.

Payment Flow

1. The customer adds products to the Botble shopping cart.

2. The customer proceeds to checkout.

3. The customer selects Flutterwave as the payment method.

4. The plugin creates a Flutterwave payment transaction.

5. The customer is redirected to the Flutterwave checkout page.

6. The customer completes the payment using an available payment method.

7. Flutterwave redirects the customer back to the configured Botble callback URL.

8. The plugin retrieves and verifies the transaction with Flutterwave.

9. The payment status is validated server-side.

10. Botble updates the order and payment records.

11. The customer receives the configured payment receipt and email notification.

Webhook Handling

The plugin supports Flutterwave webhooks to receive payment status updates from Flutterwave.

Webhook events can be used to handle situations where the customer closes the browser or does not return to the Botble callback page after completing payment.

The plugin validates incoming webhook requests before processing the transaction and updates the corresponding Botble payment and order records.

Payment Verification

Payment verification is performed server-side using the Flutterwave transaction reference.

Before marking an order as paid, the plugin verifies the transaction with Flutterwave and confirms the relevant transaction details, including:

• Transaction status

• Transaction reference

• Payment amount

• Currency

• Customer information

• Associated order/payment reference

This helps prevent orders from being marked as paid based solely on client-side or redirect information.

Refund Flow

Use the standard refund action available on a paid Botble order.

For supported transactions, the plugin sends the stored Flutterwave transaction information and the requested full or partial refund amount to Flutterwave.

After Flutterwave accepts the refund request, Botble updates the refund amount, payment status, order history, and related records.

Supported Payment Methods

Payment methods available to customers depend on their country, currency, Flutterwave account configuration, and the payment channels enabled by Flutterwave.

Depending on availability, customers may be able to pay using:

• Debit/Credit Cards

• Bank Transfer

• USSD

• Mobile Money

• Account payments

• Other Flutterwave-supported payment channels

Security

The plugin follows a server-side verification approach for payment processing.

Sensitive Flutterwave credentials should be stored securely and must never be exposed in frontend JavaScript or client-side application code.

Webhook requests are validated using the configured Flutterwave webhook secret/hash before transactions are processed.
