India Weather Update: IMD predicts heavy rainfall, thunderstorms in Northeast; heatwave

Heatwave conditions are expected to prevail over East India and South Peninsular India, it may lessen its impact further as per the latest IMD’s forecast. Meanwhile, the Northeast region is likely to experience heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms till May 7th.

In the northeastern region of Assam, a cyclonic circulation pattern is currently lying in the lower tropospheric levels. Similarly, another cyclonic circulation pattern is also present over northeast Bihar, with a channel extending to North Odisha in the lower tropospheric levels. A strong southwesterly winds originating from the Bay of Bengal and heading towards Northeast India will persist until May 7th, 2024.
